Fee Payment and Late Payment

·Tuition fees must be received in full before the student’s place is confirmed in the class. For students who enroll after the school-term has started, fees can be paid on a pro rata basis.
·iStage Academy reserves the right to refuse entry to students if fees have not been paid on or before the first lesson/activity.
·All examinations and additional materials for study and performances are subject to additional fees, please see the Examinations section below.

·The payer will receive a verbal or written notice if payment has not been received in accordance with these terms and conditions.

·The Academy reserves the right to charge a late payment fee if an invoice remains unpaid after the first class of a new term.
·If class fees have not been paid at the start of term or upon enrolment, the student will not be admitted to any classes until the outstanding fees have been paid in full.
·The Academy reserves the right at any time during the term to ask students to leave a class if any fees remain outstanding after the start of term.

Course Refunds

·Please note that as you are paying for a space in the class, and as the Academy is committed to teachers and resources, refunds are unable to be provided for classes already paid for after the commencement of the course.
·Refunds for exceptional circumstances such as long-term illness/injury can be discussed upon receipt of a valid Doctors note (please see Classes Missed below).

·The refund will be done via the same mode of original payment. For example, if the mode of payment is through Wechat or credit card, the refund will be issued through your Wechat or credit card.
·退款按照付款方式原路退回。(例如:微信转账付款的,微信退回;学院刷卡付费的,退回支付银行卡 )
·If you want to request a refund, you must provide the original invoice (fapiao).

Register & Attendance

A register for each class is maintained by the teacher and records student attendance for the purposes of health and safety and security.

·All students must be registered for the classes they attend. Any unregistered students will not be able to participate in the class.
·If a class is cancelled due to the sickness of the teacher, a health epidemic or any other unforeseen event, the Academy will endeavor to either:provide a suitable substitute teacher for that class;
·reschedule the class. This may be on a different day or different time or both from when the class was originally scheduled, and might invoke an extension to the term time dates. No refund will be given in this case.

·If the Academy is unable to provide a suitable substitute teacher or reschedule a class, a credit note will be supplied for use towards any existing classes already paid. Please note that due to the nature of the social activity within group courses, these generally cannot be offered a reschedule and can only be offered substitution or credit note.
·上述原因以外,如无法及时提供代课老师或者重新安排课程,我们会提供Credit Note。

Trial Classes

·We offer trial classes for most courses. These are subject to a fee to be paid at least 2 days in advance to hold the place. If the student cannot make the trial class, please inform the Academy no later than 4 hours in advance to be able to reschedule to a convenient time for both student and teacher. If no advanced warning is given, the Academy will be unable to reschedule the trial class and the fee will be forfeit. If the student registers for the course in the chosen trial subject, the fee will be transferred and is deductible from the course term fees unless the taster fee is paid via dianping groupon.
·Open Day trial classes are free of charge, on a first come, first served basis. Please book on early to avoid disappointment as we have limited spaces.

Minimum Required Students Number


·Some courses have minimum students number requirement. In case the course that the student has enrolled fails to meet the minimum required students number before the commencement of the course, the students may choose:
① A same course at different time slot, or
② A full tuition fee refund (please refer to the refund policy)


Classes Missed

·For private tutorial student, make-up classes can be arranged only for students who miss their regular class due to sickness, and the Academy is informed no later than 4 hours before the class starts, or the fee will be otherwise charged and a make-up class will be unable to be provided at a later date.
·For group lesson student, a credit note will be issued or a make-up class will be arranged only for students who miss their regular class due to sickness, and the Academy is informed no later than 4 hours before the class starts, or the fee will be otherwise charged and a credit note or make-up class will be unable to be provided at a later date.
·参加团体课程的学员如因病无法参加已预订课程,请至少提前4小时通知取消,此次不计入课时;我们将提供Credit Note或安排补课.如未在4小时内通知,则计课时一次, 不会提供 credit note或安排补课。
·Please be aware that a maximum of 2 make-up classes per student, per ·course/term is allowed. Make-up classes can only be offered if the student’s availability matches the timetable and availability of our teachers at the Academy.
·参加团体课程的学员如临时无法参加课程,我们每学期提供两次补课机会或者两次Credit Note;补课需根据学院和老师的课程情况另作安排。
·Any make-up classes must be taken within the allocated course time-frame. They cannot be rolled over to a new course and/or new term.
·Drama and musical theatre courses are charged by term, no make-up classes are to be arranged under any circumstance. However, class Credit Note is provided upon a valid doctor note. Such Credit Note can only be used for the same course in the following term.

Public Holidays

·iStage Academy does not operate on Public Holidays. Should a lesson fall on this date, the Academy will endeavour to reschedule to a later date (within 4 weeks if possible), and to be announced on the website, please check our website for any updates.


·The Academy offers examinations with the following examination boards: Trinity College London; The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM); Students will only be entered for examinations when they have reached the required standard and at the discretion of the teacher.
·Students will receive an examination entry form to be signed and completed by their parent/guardian. Once entered, the examination fee (separate to course fees) must be paid in full by the date specified on the form. Any late payments will incur an extra charge, assuming the examination board in question will accept a late entry.
·Students who miss 2 or more consecutive classes after being entered for an examination will be withdrawn from the examination session. No reimbursement will be given, unless a valid Doctors note is provided. Reimbursement due to medical reasons will be given at the particular examination boards discretion and guidelines.
·The Academy reserves the right to withdraw any student from an examination at any point due to misconduct.

Dress Code and Uniform

·All students should dress appropriately for their classes, with hair tied back neatly if required. Jewellery must not be worn for any Dance or Drama classes, unless specified as part of a costume.

·Occasionally, students may be required to purchase a specific uniform for an activity for health & safety reasons or examination specifications. This will be clearly highlighted in our separate Uniform document.

Special Clauses

·Under any unforeseen circumstances, iStage Academy reserves the right to replace the current tutors with others of similar background and professional qualifications.

·The Academy reserves the right to alter the advertised programme and faculty without prior notice. The information in this and any other printed or electronic brochure/notice was correct at the time of printing of publication online.

Student Safety and Code of Conduct

·All students under the age of 11 should be accompanied to the Academy by a parent/guardian or responsible adult. Adults with students under the age of 5 are advised to remain in or within close proximity to the Academy and enjoy the waiting areas until the class is finished.

·All students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately throughout the building.
A Code of Conduct will be issued to students and parents/guardians. Failure to observe the Code of Conduct may result in students being asked to leave. The Academy reserves the right to refuse any student prior to or after ·enrollment. No refund will be given if the Code of Conduct has been invoked.
It is the parent/guardians duty to inform the Academy, in writing, of any special circumstance or adjustment for a student – severe peanut allergy, asthma medication etc.


·Students may not bring food into class, but may have a water bottle with them for hydration (no glass or cans please).
Please ensure that all students have been to the toilet before class, to avoid any disruption to learning.

Student Equipment

·Students and legal guardians are responsible for taking care of all course-related work/resources and personal belongings. Please make sure all student equipment/personal belongings are taken home - particularly at the end of term.
·Any items left at the Academy are done so at the owner’s risk and the Academy cannot be held responsible for any loss/theft/damage.
Please note that the Academy reserves the right to dispose of any left items that are not claimed after 3 weeks.


·In some instances, physical contact may be necessary by members of the teaching faculty. This is to ensure safe practice and correct technique. This includes physical contact between other students, for example holding hands. If you have any concerns regarding this matter, please contact the Academy.

Data Protection and Privacy Policy

Please refer to the Privacy Policy for information on any personal data the Academy may gather.
·Please ensure the Academy receives any changes to student’s contact details in writing. All details will be held in strict confidentiality and not be passed to outside parties, apart from examination boards as outlined below.
·The examination boards (Trinity, ABRSM, ISTD) hold information about students who are participating in syllabus examinations. This enables us to carry out our business as a membership, dance education and training organization. This information includes the name and age of the participating students, any past examination successes and may also include the contact details you supply to us.

Copyright & Parents

·For the benefit of the students’ learning, we ask that parents/guardians do not usually watch classes. Parents/guardians are invited to view classes on open week, which is generally held once a term, and other regular performance opportunities are provided. The Academy reserves the right to cancel open week.

·While parents may use their personal electronic devices to record their children, the Academy urges parents to be aware that any ·video recordings or photography they make must feature/focus on their child only. Recording is for personal use only and must not be broadcasted publicly or on social media.
·父母/监护人可以录制或者拍摄在学院表演或演出的照片/录像。 拍摄的作品仅限于个人使用。
·Recording devices must not distract teachers and children, must not interrupt the class and may not be used for commercial gain. iStage Academy reserves the right to take any further legal action against unauthorized, misusage of relevant media content.

·Please inform us in writing if you do not wish the academy to use photography/video recordings of your child for any iStage Academy future public events. This may include, but is not limited to; onsite/offsite public performances and promotional display and distribution.
·iStage Academy reserves the right to retain and use any photography/video recordings within the venue and at any off-site outdoor events, funded or organized by the Academy.


·Current students at the Academy have priority for continuous enrollment.
·The Academy asks that registration and payment of the tuition fees be completed 2 weeks in advance before commencement of the following term, otherwise the Academy will assume the student is no longer active, and their place in the class will be allocated to another student.
·If the student discontinues a course 1 week before the commencement of a new term, any fees already paid will be non-refundable. Exceptional circumstances such as medical condition or injury will be taken into account on receipt of a valid Doctors note.

Changes to the Terms & Conditions

·The Academy reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time and provide all students with the updated copy as soon as it is finalized and sent to print.


·The Academy is aiming to provide an excellent level of customer service and we are confident that our students will have a wonderful educational experience with us at all times.
·Should you have any questions or concerns, please speak to the teacher/course leader in the first instance as they will be in the ideal position to help with any such matters. Should a problem not be resolved, the Director of Performing Arts will be able to review the situation with you.
