iStage Immersive Theatre ‘Alice in Wonderland’

June 27th, 2018

“You are late! You are late! For a very important date!”

“Alice in Wonderland” is an immersive theatre experience performed on June 9th and 10th by istage's 8-14 year old students. The tickets to all three performances were sold out in less than one week! What other performances are that popular?

Here some great moments

We just had a crazy idea. We want everyone to perform in our immersive theatre.

20 students in our 8-14 year old group will study for 12 weeks and ultimately perform a fantastic 80 minute show three times. Does that sound crazy?

The audience was thoroughly impressed and astonished after our last show. Many of them citing the performance, setting and environment was indicative of istage's high quality. Karina the director of the show added some innovative touches to liven up the atmosphere. Even audience members who were unfamiliar with the story gained a deep understanding. During the performance the students stayed in character and were able to communicate well to the audience.

The quickest way to success is putting in all of your effort.

Within 3 months students must learn all of the dances, songs and even do live rehearsals to get familiar with one another. Immersive stage requires actors/actresses unrelenting dedication to their role. Students practiced 5 hours every Saturday since May showing their extreme commitment and determination.

From start to finish, the performance was nearly 80 minutes long with no rests or going backstage. Things were meticulously prepared 20 minutes prior to the audience's arrival. All of this effort culminated in a perfect performance.

We have unlimited creativity and the stage is our canvas.

We were able to execute this magical performance with only 200 square meters of space.

Five stages: Main stage Mad Hatter Tea Party, The Caterpillar, The Queen of Hearts, The Duchess, The Tweedles.

There were five different Alices and 23 performers all performing simultaneously.

50 audience members were surrounded by the stage enjoying a tea party with the Mad Hatter.

It was a 360 degree experience and the events were unpredictable.

Backstage

All of the most interesting events happen backstage where performers let their true colors out and create real connections with each other.

What did the parents have to say after the performance?

今、明两天,我儿子、女儿在这儿表演。最开心的就是找到一个用心陪娃的机构。在这儿收获的是走上他们的小小的舞台。每个人都需要有自己的舞台,不管大还是小,这都是成长。

Super duper crazy proud of my little Cheshire Cat and all of her fellow Alice in Wonderland cast members - they did an amazing job! And top marks to the iStage crew for the fantastic immersive set that really felt like a magical tea party. So much fun and so glad to share it with good friends. Really, really wonderful.

"My dear, here we must run as fast as we can, just to stay in place. And if you wish to go anywhere you must run twice as fast as that." To all the performers and staff who work extremely hard to create this wonderland!
——Ava's Mum

"Ms. Karina has help me come out of my shell!"~words by Maddie~I encourage you all to find your voice, especially if you are a shy little Asian girl.
