Description

Course Overview:

In this course, students will receive professional training to develop their skills as musical theatre performers and introduce them to the field of musical theatre and performing arts. Students will work on developing their acting, dance and vocal skills, and learn to critically reflect on process and performance. They will also focus on developing their professional skills such as communication, working collaboratively, critical thinking and self-presentation, and interpersonal skills, such as self-management, adaptability and resilience, self-monitoring and development to become an all-round performer.

 

The course is designed around two core units in year 1 (120 GLH) and two core units in year 2 (120 GLH), with a flexible, unit-based structure, and knowledge applied in project-based assessments, as well as holistic learning, where skills will be combined.. These include:

– Introduction to Performing Arts and Production (60 GLH)

– Performing Arts Production (60 GLH)

– Devising Performance Work (60 GLH)

– Performing Existing Repertoire (60 GLH)

 

Students’ work is generated through practical projects, briefs, workshops and engagement with industry, preparing them through the development of portfolios and materials for progression. Students will develop performing arts skills, learn to manage projects, gain self-analysis skills, and develop appreciation of the performing arts industry and their future in it.

Intensive training in vocal, dance and acting

Triple-Threat approach: strengthen the existing skills, and develop the weaker skills

Nurture a broader understanding of musical theatre

Students can develop their performing arts skills as a part of their academic career.

 

Requirements:

Students are able to commit for the full program (90 percent attendance is required)

Students have an advanced level in one discipline and are proficient in the other two disciplines

Students are highly motivated, not only in the classroom, but also outside through weekly homework assignments (suggested homework time is 4hrs/per week)

Students should have a very good understanding of English – reading, oral and written
